Project Background

Map of original proposed William Pettus Rd extension under CAMPO

Extending William Pettus Road was first identified as a priority in CAMPO’s Western Caldwell County Transportation Study. This study analyzed factors like current and future traffic patterns, economic growth, environmental considerations, and population trends. One of the key recommendations from the study was to create a connection between SH 21 and FM 110 in order to improve access and reduce congestion on surrounding roadways.

Alignment Options

Alignment options for proposed improvements

How was this route chosen?

The project team conducted an alignment study, evaluating multiple route options to consider:

  • Property owner input

  • Safety

  • Environmental impacts

  • Cost

This study led to a proposed alignment for public consideration that would provide:

  • The best safety and mobility improvements

  • Minimized impacts to property owners

  • The best intersection spacing to the existing FM 110/Yarrington Road intersection

Next Steps

Hays County and the project team will continue to develop the schematic design while refining cost estimates and designs. The next steps will involve close collaboration with stakeholders, including property owners, local government agencies, and TxDOT.

Timeline of project, from Spring 2023 to December 2025

Current project funding supports corridor planning, design, right-of-way acquisition and environmental coordination. Additional funding sources for construction are currently being evaluated.
